Najmi was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of AMAL by Malaysia Airlines, the Umrah and Pilgrimage services arm under Malaysia Airlines Berhad, in March 2021. Before this role, he served as the Head of Group Finance Business Partners and Corporate Planning for the Group, and as AMAL’s Chief Financial Officer from 2017 to 2019.
A Certified Practising Accountant (ASCPA), Najmi has been with Malaysia Airlines since 2004, holding various responsibilities and management roles. His extensive experience includes leading strategic projects such as the Business Turnaround Plan and the setup of new companies, including Hijrah Biru Sdn Bhd (“AMAL by Malaysia Airlines”). He has also conducted financial assessments on aircraft purchases and route rationalisation, and overseen systems implementation.
Najmi’s expertise in aviation and project management, combined with his strategic vision and financial acumen, make him a pivotal figure in driving AMAL’s success and ensuring operational excellence. His leadership continues to enhance AMAL’s service quality, efficiency, and growth within the aviation industry.
